Understanding how pharmaceutical companies in the OSD sector are addressing Quality Control challenges
Scope of Study
The 2024 Quality Control Barometer is an independent study aiming to get a better insight into the current QC status in the OSD drug product manufacturing, including challenges, existing procedures, and future requirements.
With the current emergence of continuous manufacturing and the associated introduction of innovative technologies, there is a need for a different, improved approach to Quality Control.
Within this context, the 2024 QC Barometer has been initiated to collect data through an online questionnaire and better understand how companies are responding to current industry challenges and reacting to new trends, such as Process Analytical Technologies (PATs), paving the way for real-time release testing.
Study results will be anonymously published in a final report due in June 2024. It will enable companies from the OSD pharmaceutical industry to position themselves against other industry players and ultimately make better-informed decisions about their Quality Control Strategy.
Mid-February 24 : Survey Launch
The world’s largest Quality Control barometer for the OSD drug product industry is launched to gain market insights and understand how pharmaceutical companies are addressing today’s QC challenges in batch, as well as continuous manufacturing.
February – May 24 : Data Collection
Data are collected through the online questionnaire distributed via our partners, emailings, and social media.
May 24 : Panel Discussion
After 3 months of collection, the data will be consolidated in a first report, which will be discussed in 3 focus groups – in the USA, Asia and Europe – involving industry experts. Organized in May, these focus groups will analyze the results of the study. The experts invited will have the opportunity to discuss and compare the results with their own experience.
June 24 : Report Publication
Study results will be published anonymously in a final report, available for download, by June 2024.
The Barometer’s questionnaire is aimed exclusively at decision-makers in the Oral Solid Dosage drug product manufacturing industry. It is mainly intended for:

- About the Questionnaire
The questionnaire is a dynamic form with skip logic in answers. Conditional instructions direct respondents to skip certain questions based on their previous answers, which enhances survey efficiency and relevance.
Questions with radio buttons (circles) require a single answer, while questions with checkboxes allow various answers. It takes approximately 10 minutes to answer all the questions.
